My busy day yesterday

What a day! Yesterday it was so hot here in Brisbane and today is going to be hotter. I spent most of yesterday in the car running errands except for a few hours in when I popped in to visit my friend Nikki Tervo. Nikki is opening a shop at her home and the grand opening is this Sunday. Her shop will be open Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm and other times by appointment. Nikki is known for her great range of buttons as well as patchwork and stitchery patterns. In the shop she will also have quilting fabric and a very small range of my bear making patterns and kits. For Brissie locals, if you are out her way pop in and pay her a visit.

The shop is called Brandy Gully Patchwork at 178 Chelsea rd Ransome QLD.

Teddy Bear Society, new bear pattern & what I have been working on

A few weeks ago I helped out at the Teddy Bear Society stand at the Brisbane Craft & Quilt Fair. It was great to catch up with lots of people I hadn't seen for ages.

Bear Making Workshop & Afternoon Tea with Teddy & Me

Just a reminder this Saturday from 9.30am – 2.30pm there is a Megelles Bear Making workshop.

And afterwards from 2.30pm to 5.00pm, there will be the latest event in my calendar - Afternoon Tea with Teddy & Me.  This will be a solo exhibition of my work and I promise to have some beautiful bears for you as well as a few new exclusive patterns and stitchery designs.

A little surprise in my mail box

When I came today there was a little surprise in my mail box – my copy of New Zealand Teds magazine.

Back in August I was contacted by one of the editors of the New Zealand Teds magazine and asked if I would like to submit a pattern for their next issue. Where should I start?

I have a dilemma. Should I design a new bear pattern or play with my new fabrics?

I brought the above fabric back from Sydney with me the weekend before last -ever since I have been admiring it & planning what I can make.

Then yesterday a parcel arrived with my order from Gerrys. This morning I added a few other pieces to the mix and have been looking at them all day but am still undecided as where to start. I need to make 2 bears in the next few days. One is to make another pink girly bear for a Breast Cancer fundraiser on October 22. The other is to design a new bear pattern.

This girl has been made for a breast cancer fundraising function that a good friend of mine is assisting in organising. I hope they like her. I did have fun making her.

Heavenly Stitches Fair Part 2

The Art of Teddy Bears had a great range of patterns and kits. Their online website is great.

Valma from Teddy Bits was all smiles. She will in Brisbane for the October Craft show.

Lyn from Parker Bears wouldn't let me take her photo. Her little bears are adorable. The pink rabbit now has a new home. Lyn makes the most brilliant miniature bears.

Susan Leigh from Bearleigh bears had some great creations too and her rabbits were so cute. All the rabbits seemed to catch my eye.

My friend Vicki decided that she really liked this girl Tasha Jayne but she didn't like her dress. So we redressed her. I like both outfits but Vicki went the green one.

Heavenly Stitches Fair part 1

Last Sunday I traded at the Heavenly Stitches Fair . It is a great little boutique craft fair. There was plenty of room and a great outlook.

I surprised myself when I looked at this photo. It is a small selection of my stitchery range. The display looked okay.

Alas the bear end of my table look a little bare - excuse the pun.

I caught up with a few other traders - Merilyn Pursell of Bearwilderedbears. We had a great afternoon chatting. Her new little bear range is so cute!!

Wendy was also there. She has a great range of hand dyed mohair and miniature bear fabric. Her business is called Wanda Jaye Collectables. Wendy doesn't often come up to Brisbane so it was nice to see her range in the fur.

 

Sydney Workshop

I had a great day on Saturday in Sydney at Absolutely Hooked on Bears

Simone started very early eating the chocolates.

April looked after us very well- tea, coffee, chocolates and cakes. The workshop area is fabulous.
