Doll making class sample

Just photographed this little girl for my doll making class....  It is a great class for those wanting to try something new or just starting to get back into sewing.

New Tilda fabric has arrived and All About Handmade Market

I just love it when boxes arrive.  

I have loved Tilda fabric for years and it is now available here in Australia.  When I was in Melbourne one of my friends handed me a brochure as she thought I would like it.  Thank you and of course I love it. 

 I have only ordered a little bit for the studio and to dress a new workshop bear.  There are so many fabrics in the range and of course I would like to order them all but I couldn't.

They also have a wrapping paper (and lots of scrap booking papers.)

Brookfield Show 2012 - Needlework Hall

I had the great pleasure of spending the last two days at my local show with the nicest group of ladies. Thank you all.

I have judged the Bear making section of the Brookfield Show for the last 10 years.  It is the only competition that I judge.  This year I also displayed a few of my bears to promote my new studio and the art of bear making.

I also demonstrated the art of bear making.  The response was brilliant from young and old.  I asked the children to help me put the eyes in a bear's head.  They loved to help and were all so well mannered.

There were 80 quilts entered in the show as well as lots of other crafts like knitting, doll making and needlework. 

I had a great view from my corner.  There are so many really creative people out there.

 

Setting up the hall is very hard work. The ladies do a brilliant job making sure everyone's work is displayed.

Melbourne Teddy Bear Fair 2012

It was a last minute decision to go to the Melbourne Teddy Bear Fair and I am glad I decided to go. The show was great and I had a really nice time catching up with lots of people I hadn't seen in years.  I also made a few new friends and put a few more names and faces together.

Here are a few photos from the 2012 Ipswich Doll and Bear Fair

I had a great day yesterday.  I didn't stop talking all day.  There were lots of traders.  Heaps of bargains........

Here is my table.

I sold a few bits and pieces but no bears.  I did hand out a few of my new brochures and spoke to lots of people about teddy bear making workshops.

These little bears and gollies are from Little Nultys (Patricia Nulty). They are so cute and I love how she uses the vintage accessories.

Rapunzel Collections - The ladies have a great range of German Bears and other collectables.

Gerry's Teddy And Craft were there too!

I also caught up with Stephen and Joan.......I hope they don't retire from bear shows too soon!  I love chatting to them. Darracott Bears.

Someone new to Queensland is Kay Warren.  She trades under the name Teddy Bears for You.  She sells those wonderful Charlie Bears.

The Vintage Girls - Sue and Rosemary. They had some great bits and pieces. Some of their old bears were so cute.

As you can see the place was FULL!

 

My dear friend Michelle.  I haven't seen her for a few years.  I hadn't realised how long it had been.   Keep going girl!

Michelle trades under Billy 'T" Bears.  Michelle gave me a hint of the bear she is entering into Winterwonderland in June.  I can't wait to see it.

The lovely Valerie from Gum Tree Hollow Bears......She is one of the nicest people in the bear world.

I have just been organising myself for this Sunday.  I have not traded at this show for over 5 years mainly due to my other commitments.  All I need to do now is price everything and pack it all into my suitcases.

Working on something I started over 3 years ago!

I am feeling inspired.  Yesterday I opened a jelly roll and charm pack from the Athill Range from Moda.....

and then I sat at my sewing machine and sewed!!!

Then I realised I didn't have enough wadding left to complete it and I didn't feel like going to the shops.

So this morning, (after doing umpteen loads of washing) I got out the quilt top I started about three years ago. I never finished it then as I was not sure what sort of border to do.  I put the centre piece on my bed and realised that one very thick border would work perfectly.

What do you think?

Originally I was going to handquilt as well but I am having second thoughts...

My trip to Brandy Gully Patchwork........

Yesterday I went for a little drive to the other side of Brisbane to visit my good friend Nikki.  It was meant to be a day of sewing but ended up to be an afternoon of computer lessons....  I say an afternoon as I was a bit late.  It took me forever to get out of the house yesterday - no idea why.

Some of you may already know Nikki from Nikki Tervo Buttons .  Some of you may not know that Nikki also has opened a little patchwork shop at her home called Brandy Gully Patchwork.
